The product tutorial, start to finish.

Read it written up on the forum — the same walkthrough, with the numbers, and somewhere to ask.

A colony is the group you belong to — a house, a bloodline, a guard. Unlike a land group it needs no rez rights, so you can bring people in without handing them build permissions, and every member wears the colony name in their meter title wherever they go.

You belong to exactly one, and you lead only one. That is what makes a faction mean something rather than being another tag to collect.

The sign shows your crest, your leader and your member count, and anyone passing can touch it to ask to join. Behind it is the Colony page on the website, and most of it is built from whatever your members set to Colony security.

Work. Every bench, field and tree shared with the colony, and what each is doing. Flag a recipe somebody in the colony knows, or a field that needs plowing, and hand it to a member as a job. Set goals to gather towards, counted from your shared stores.

Stores. Every Colony storage in one place. Search them, move goods between them, and send crafting, gathering and farming straight into them instead of each player's pack.

Trade. A treasury where courier earnings, market hub fees and colony shop takings collect, opened only by the leader and managers.

Members. Invite by name or answer requests from the sign, give each member their own title, appoint managers, and write honours of your own that members earn by steady help.

You can also rename the world to suit yours. Every race and every profession can be relabelled for your lands, and that is what your colonists' meters read.
